Abstract

1,264,526. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems; regulating fluid-flow. DIESEL KIKI K. K. June 10, 1969 [June 10, 1968], No.29341/69. Heading G3H and G3P. A speed governor for a fuel injection engine comprises a fluid logic element 15, means 10, 11, 12 for supplying fluid pulses at a frequency proportional to engine speed to control passages 15a, 15b of the logic element by way of two pipes 13, 14 of different lengths, a fluidic amplifier element 18 having two separate outputs and adapted to compare the output of the logic element with a fluid-flow 19 at adjustable constant pressure, and a fluidic circuit including individual amplifiers A, B with differential time control connected to the outputs of the amplifier 18 and having outputs 22e, 22f for controlling the fuel regulating member 3 of the engine. A pair of nozzles 11, 12 cooperate with a circumferential series of holes 10 in a disc 9 on the fuel pump camshaft to generate the pulses. Accumulators 16, 17 smooth out the pulses in the output from the element 15 before they are applied to the control ports of the amplifier 18 which is biased by an adjustable pressure from a valve 19 to counteract the effect of a spring- load on the regulator. Each amplifier A, B has its control parts connected by a short line and a long line to one of the outputs from the amplifier 18. If the engine speed rises, an increased pressure occurs at the input to the amplifier B with the difference in the length of the input lines causing the output from this amplifier to appear first at outlet 21c and then at outlet 21d so that the output from a further amplifier 22 is similarly reversed to prevent overshoot on the regulator 3. The amplifier A functions in a similar manner when the engine speed falls. The difference in the input lines to each of the amplifiers A, B is related to the speed with the greatest fluctuation of hunting, such as idling speed. As alternatives to the use of input lines of different lengths, the differential amplifiers may use accumulators in the input or feedback lines.
