Abstract
1,264,353. Preparation of halogenated phenyl esters of carbonic acid. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 5 May, 1969 [3 May, 1968], No. 22842/69. Heading C2C. Halogenated phenyl esters of carbonic acids are prepared by reacting a halogenated phenol and a chloride of carbonic acid or a carbonic acid functional compound in the presence of from 0À01 to 20 moles per cent based on the carbonic acid chloride or chloride of a carbonic acid functional compound, of one or more tertiary amines whose amino nitrogen atom may form part of a heterocyclic ring of aromatic character and/or acid amides. The term amide used herein means simple amides and imides of carboxylic, sulphonic, phosphorous, and phosphoric acid; barbituric acids; carbonic acid amides or imides; carbodiimide; guanidines; titanic acid amide; silicic acid amides; and stannic acid amides, which may be N-mono or -disubstituted, at a temperature of from 50‹ to 250‹ C. The halogenated phenyl esters of carbonic acids prepared according to the process of the invention may also be used as bactericides in association with a suitable carrier or diluent. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,010,565.
