Abstract
1,263,717. Gauging bends in ducts. POST OFFICE. July 30, 1969 [July 31, 1968], No.36551/68. Heading G1M. [Also in Division G4] In order to measure the deviation from straightness of a duct, two universal-joint 3, Fig. 1, coupled tubes 1, 2, are pulled through the duct, the tubes being guided in the duct by brushes 5, 6, 21, and the second tube 2 carries an extension 23, 24 which moves a contact 25 across a board 10, see also Fig. 3, so that one of three pulse trains produced by switches 48, 49, 50, coupled to a wheel Fig. 2 (not shown) rotated by the duct as the device is pulled through, is applied to a counter 40. Thus the final count represents the integral of the extent of deviation from straightness against displacement.
