Abstract

1,263,663. Scoop-arm machines. H. SCHAEFF. 24 March, 1970, No. 14364/70. Heading E1F. Excavating apparatus comprises a frame 10 adapted to be releasably secured to a vehicle and having connected to it hydraulically-extensible support legs 23, a boom pivoted for slewing movement on the frame, a king post assembly 35 pivoted for slewing movement on the boom, and a buffing jib 36 attached to the assembly 35 and supporting a dipper arm carrying an implement 42, the boom extending through the frame 10 and two hydraulic rams being respectively connected between the boom and the assembly 35 and the frame 10 and the boom, whereby the jib 36 can be slewed through at least 180‹ relative to the frame. The frame 10 is connectible to the vehicle by hooks 11 and a bar 12. A lever 38 carrying one end of a ram 41 for buffing the jib 36 is adjustable to three positions shown in full and dotted lines on Fig. 1 so that the jib can be placed in a transport position also shown in dotted lines. An operator's seat 51 and control panel 52 are carried by the boom.
