Abstract

1,263,198. Pipe insulation; insulated bends and T-pieces. ASSOCIATED INSULATION OF CALIFORNIA. 11 Nov., 1970, No. 53548/70. Headings F2G and F2P. A pipe insulation unit comprises two shells 16, 16a, e.g. of metal, secured together to surround a pipe, each containing insulating material 18, 18a covered by a perforated metal screen or wire mesh, both flexible, the shells having protuberances 24 penetrating into the insulation, to retain the insulation. Such units are shaped to surround pipes, pipe bends and T- pieces, the ends of the shells 16, 16a extending beyond their respective insulation parts to overlap adjacent conventional insulation. The shells 16, 16a are secured together by latches engaging hooks, and one of the shells 16 has its longitudinal edges extending beyond its insulation to overlap the other shell 16 upon securing. The insulation is of rock wool, asbestos or mineral fibre, glass fibre, &c.
