The delivery of a variable delivery hydraulic pump 11, Fig. 1 which supplies a double acting jack 24 through an open centre selector value 15 is controlled by means 50 actuated by a spring-biased servo-device 45, 49, responsive to the pressure drop across an orifice 41 in a line 38 downstream of an unloader valve formed by slots 36, Fig. 2 in lands 27, 28 of valve 15 whereby on moving valve 15 in either direction from the neutral position shown in order to supply and exhaust the jack, the unloader valve is closed resulting in reduction to zero of the pressure drop across orifice 41 and the pump delivery being increased to its maximum.
