Abstract

A method of making a laminated board comprises coating one surface of a carrier material, e.g. paper, a textile material or a glass fibre mat with a mixture of an uncured synthetic resin, e.g. a polyester resin, a phenolic resin or a melamine-aldehyde resin and a metal powder, e.g. iron, copper, lead, aluminium, brass or bronze, drying the coated carrier material to cure the synthetic resin and bonding the coated carrier material to core layers disposed on the side of the uncoated surface of the carrier material by means of pressure and/or adhesive. In a preferred embodiment, the mixture may be covered with a covering layer, e.g. of paper or a plastics material. The carrier material may be pre-impregnated with a synthetic resin, e.g. a melamine-aldehyde resin. Patterns may be incorporated in the synthetic boards by the use of patterned press plates.
