Abstract

1,261,224. Sealing bearings. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. 9 May, 1969 [10 May, 1968], No. 23829/69. Headings F2A and F2B. A seal for a rolling bearing comprises a ring 14 of resilient material having a fixing bead 15 at one edge and a sealing lip 19 at the other edge there being a reinforcing ring 16 bonded to the resilient ring, the reinforcing ring having one of its edges extending radially beyond the sealing lip of the resilient ring. The edge of the reinforcing ring adjacent the fixing bead is disposed radially between the fixing edge and the sealing lip of the resilient ring, and is maintained in place by a projection 22 on the ring. The projecting edge of the reinforcing ring is received in a recess 18 in the race to provide a labyrinth to prevent ingress of dirt to the sealing ring.
