1,260,348. Holographic camera; high speed photography. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Sept. 19, 1969 [Oct. 2, 1968], No.46180/69. Headings G2E and G2J. An ultra-high speed camera forming multiple holograms and having no moving parts comprises a laser 1, an optical shutter 2, e. g. a Kerr cell or Pockels cell, to produce a light-pulse of short duration, a deflecting mirror 3 to provide two beams of light one of which illuminates an object 6, both beams being caused to interfere on a photographic plate 7, optical means 4 being located in the path of one or both the beams to split the pulsed beam into a series of elementary pulses displaced and delayed relative to each other and also synchronized to each other whereby successive pulses fall on the object 6 and for plate 7 at different angles of incidence. The means 4 may be a parallel faced glass plate, the entrance face being semi-reflecting and the other face wholly reflecting. Alternatively the entrance face of the plate 4 may consist of juxtaposed strips having difference coefficients of reflection and refraction so as to obtain equal energy distribution between the successive pulses. If desired a deflector 5, e. g. a glass plate cut to form a superposed array of prisms, having a variable angle of deviation is placed in the path of the beam omitted by the or each plate 4.
