Abstract

1,260,248. Punching webs. FUJI PHOTO FILM CO. Ltd. 16 April, 1970 [19 April, 1969], No. 18271/70. Heading B4B. A method of feeding and perforating a web 1, e.g. a film or paper tape, Fig. 1, comprises perforating the web by a blade A while moving the blade A in the feed direction of the web to transport the web, removing the blade A from the web and returning it in the direction opposite to the feed direction, and repeating the cycle of operations, and actuating a further blade B to perform the same cycle of operations as the blade A, the blades being actuated in such timed relationship that at any instant there is in engagement with the web a blade moving in the feed direction of the web so that the web is continuously transported. Each blade may form one or more perforations in the web, the perforations or sets of perforations being formed by the blades alternately along the web. The blades may be operated in such timed relationship as to produce non-uniform perforations. In the embodiment depicted diagrammatically in Fig. 9, showing the paths of blades A and B corresponding numerals indicate corresponding positions of the blades during their paths of movement. The blades are moved by cam and lever mechanisms.
