Abstract

1,259,886. Container traffic loading containers on to semi-trailers; winches. BENNES MARREL S.A. 6 Aug., 1969 [8 Aug., 1968], No. 39378/69. Headings B8B and B8Q. A semi-trailer having a chassis 1 is provided with a pivotable false chassis 9 on to which a container 8 is loaded by a winch 22 connected by a cable 23 to coupling beam 24 connectable to the container. The false chassis 9 is pivotably connected to the chassis 1 by rods 12, 14 pivoted thereto at points 10, 11, 13, 15 so positioned that the spacing 16, Fig. 2 is greater than 17 so that upon contraction of a double acting jack 19 from the position of Fig. 2, after the container has been drawn on to the false chassis 9, moves forward relative to the wheels 6, 7 to the position of the false chassis, Fig. 7, thus improving the load distribution during transport. The rod 14 is preferably bell cranked and provided with a pulley or rollers at the elbow which in the tilted position, Fig. 2, runs on the ground as the trailer is drawn towards the container during loading. The winch 22 preferably comprises two double acting hydraulic jacks 25, 26, Fig. 8, connected at 90 degrees spaced positions to the drum 27 which operates the cable 23.
