Abstract

1,259,411. Fluid actuation of switches. DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc. 9 March, 1970 [17 March, 1969], No. 11240/70. Heading H1N. A fluid-pressure responsive switch comprises a housing 12 having an inlet passage 22 communicating with a chamber 15 in which a rubber diaphragm is clamped between an 0-ring 36 and an annular member 24 of L-shaped crosssection. A piston-like member having portions 30, 32 of different diameters is loosely located by the annulus 24 and urged against the rubber diaphragm by a spider-shaped flat spring 26. A recess formed on the other side of member 24 seats a ball 38 in contact with a cantilever 44 which is anchored by bolt 45 and has a " window " 48 to provide flexibility. A switch 57 is carried by a channel bracket 62 with its actuator 56 engaging lever 44, and a spring acting on the free end of lever 44 is adjustable by a knob 52 carried on an extension of bolt 50. An extension (65, Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) of one side of bracket 62 is bent acutely to engage the knob 52 and prevent vibrational displacement thereof and carries a pressure scale (68) on which the lower edge 69 of knob 52 indicates the switch setting.
