Abstract

In a rack bar made of non-metallic material for escalator or travelator drives, an articulation hole 3 is provided at each end and a reinforcement of high tensile strength is embedded in the material and encircles the articulation holes 3. The non-metallic material is preferably a plastics material with a polyamide base. The reinforcement may consist of metal wire loops 2 or glass fibre loops or it may comprise metal sheets 4, Fig. 2, embedded in the non-metallic material, the metal sheets 4 being provided with holes 5.
