[Also in Divisions C3 and D1] A mouldable article comprises a glass fibre mat bonded by a binder comprising 40 to 91% of a curable phenol-formaldehyde condensate, 4 to 40% urea and 5 to 45% dicyandiamide. The proportion of urea and dicyandiamide is sufficiently high for the binder to be stable at 100‹ F. for at least one month and the proportion of dicyandiamide is sufficiently high to increase the viscosity to cause a substantial reduction in the tack of the binder. The article can have an apparent density of 0À5 to 30 lb. cubic foot. The binder can contain a thickening agent, e.g. 0À5 to 25% of a polysaccharide and/or a bone glue, methyl cellulose alginates, gelatin or acrylic compounds. The binder can include a mould release agent, e.g. methylpolysiloxanes or the monoethanolic ester of ricinoleic acid. Emulsified petroleum oil may also be present in the binder. The binder produces little or no build up of resin in the mould during subsequent moulding. Ceiling tiles may be produced by cutting the article into portions of appropriate size and placing each portion in a mould comprising matched dies.
