Abstract

1,258,090. Water filter. R. CONRAD. 19 May, 1969, No. 25506/69. Heading BID. A filter for swimming pool-water comprises a two part housing enclosing three concentric filter elements of hollow annular form, each comprising a filter jacket 36 supported internally by a stack of rings 25. The lower ends of the elements open into a diametral manifold 40 and the elements are clamped in place by a cruciform spider with grooved arms 50 engaging their upper closed ends. Rings 25 maybe of T-shaped cross section (Figs. 7, 9, not shown) or comprise flat annular flanges with dependent lugs lying in radial planes (Figs. 10, 11, not shown). Apertures in the rings accommodate through bolts securing them to base ring 31. Water enters the housing by pipe 72 and up under disc 81, which constrains the water to flow radially outwards and sweep any settled filter aid particles back on to the exteriors of the filter jackets. Filter aid enters the housing through pump (101) which delivers the water. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates external pipework whereby the filter elements may be backwashed with unfiltered water.
