Heading C2C. 1 - (Imidazol - 1<SP>1</SP>- yl)- 2- hydroxy - 3 - phenoxy-propanes of the general formula wherein R and R 1 'are each a hydrogen atom or a nitro group and X is a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group, are prepared by reaction of an imidazole and a 1,2-epoxy-3- phenoxy-propane of the respective general formulµ at the reflux temperature.
