Abstract

1,256,839. Benzodiazepines. ARZNEIMITTELWERK DRESDEN VEB. 3 Aug., 1970, No. 37346/70. Heading C2C. Pure 2-methylamino-5-phenyl-7-chloro-3H- 1,4-benzodiazepine 4-oxide is prepared by stirring the crude compound with chloroform, optionally in the presence of water or an alcohol, isolating the resulting molecular compound of the benzodiazepine with chloroform and converting it to the pure benzodiazepine, e.g. by heating. The starting material may be prepared from 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone oxime via 2 - chloromethyl - 4 - phenyl - 6 - chloroquinazoline 3-oxide.
