Polymers are stabilized by incorporating therein (1) a hydroxybenzylamine of formula ANR 3 R 4 where A is the group wherein R 1 and R 2 are C 1-12 alkyl, C 5-8 cycloalkyl or aralkyl; R 3 is A, R 1 , C 1-12 hydroxyalkyl, aralkyl or alkaryl; and R 4 is R 3 or hydrogen; or wherein R 3 and R 4 together with the nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic ring; and (2) a phosphite of formula (R 5 O) 3 P wherein R 5 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, optionally substituted with halogen or hydroxyl, and at least one R 5 is alkyl or cycloalkyl; or a polymeric phosphite. Specified polymers are natural and synthetic rubbers; polymers of olefins, diolefins, methylmethacrylate, acrylonitrile, styrene and vinyl chloride; polyamides, polyesters ; polyurethanes and polyethers. Organic sulphides, metal dialkyl dithiophosphates, metal dialkyl dithiocarbamates, trialkyl trithiophosphates, phenols and other conventional additives may also be present. The compositions may be formed by direct or solvent mixing, e.g. with methylene chloride. Many suitable stabilizers are specified and examples describe compositions of poly-4-rnethylpentene - 1, pentaerythrityl- # - (4 - hydroxy- 3,5 - di - t - butylphenyl) propionate and dilauryl thiodipropionate with N,N-di(3,5-t-butyl - 4-hydroxy benzyl) ethanolamine and (1) diphenyl octyl phosphite, (2) diphenyl decylphosphite, (3) phenyl didecyl, (4) tridecyl phosphite and (5) tridodecyl phosphite; and with N,N - di(# - hydroxy ethyl) - 3,5 - dit - butyl - 4 - hydroxybenzylamine and (6) tridecyl phosphite and (7) tridodecyl phosphite.
