Abstract

1,255,019. Chimney linings. SERVOTOMIC Ltd. 16 Feb., 1970 [15 Nov., 1968; 29 April, 1969], No. 54256/68 and 21678/69. Heading F4J. A method of lining a flue comprises threading through the flue a flexible but self-supporting tube of less cross-sectional area, filling the space between the flue and tube with cementitious material and allowing the latter to set. Thereafter the tube may be burnt away by use of the appliance to which the flue is attached. By self-supporting is meant a material that will withstand the pressure of the cementitious material without internal fluid pressure and will retain the desired shape. The self-supporting tube may be made of corrugated paper treated to render it impervious or resistant to water and/or to improve its combustion. The flue may be initially lined with a deformable material e.g. polyvinyl chloride to prevent seepage of corrosive liquid condensates.
