[Also in Division C3] Synthetic fibres are treated with an antimicrobial agent selected from 5-nitrofurfural, 5-nitrofurfurylidene diacetate, #-(5-nitro furyl- 2)-acrolein, #-(5-nitrofuryl-2)-allylidene diacetate, [#-(5-nitro furyl-2)-allylidene amino]-hydantoin and 3-(5-nitro-2-furfurylidene amino) -2-oxazolidone. The fibres may be composed of a cellulosic material, a polyolefin, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, a polyamide or a polyester. Diphenylamine, 8-hydroxquinoline or trichlorocarbanilide may optionally be used as an additional antimicrobial agent.
