Abstract

1,254,283. Brake fluid level indicators; hydraulic brakes. R. V. THOMAS. 9 June, 1969 [29 Aug., 1968], No. 41190/68. Headings F2E and F2F. In an electrical warning indicator for a twin master cylinder brake fluid reservoir for a vehicle, switch contacts D, located in a cap or stopper J of the fluid reservoir, are operated by a contact plate E located on a non-conductive rod G attached to a single float B operating in the fluid reservoir which is provided with a central partition C. In the event of leakage of fluid in one master cylinder hyraulic circuit, the fluid level H (Fig. 1) will drop to level I (Fig. 2) and the contact plate E will make electrical contact with switch contacts D to operate a warning lamp in view of the driver. The brake fluid warning lamp is arranged to work in conjuncwith the engine oil-pressure lamp for test purposes.
