Abstract

1,254,277. Securing sleeves to ropes. MOXLEY ROPE WORKS CO. Ltd. 16 Dec., 1968 [23 Dec., 1967], No. 58577/67. Heading D1T. The sleeve illustrated in Fig. 3 is compressed between the tools 23, 24 until the side wall portion 19 bow inwardly to produce doublewalled inwardly projecting webs as at 26 in Fig. 4 or as at 26a in Fig. 4A, to grip the rope portions 21, 22 in substantially D-shaped apertures. The wall thickness may be uniform or the side walls may be of lesser thickness. The interior of the sleeve may be roughened or knurled. Alternatively it may be formed with inwardly projecting ribs. There may be only one inwardly projecting rib.
