Abstract
1,254,023. Rolling mills. LEIFELD & CO. 26 July, 1969, No. 37677/69. Heading B3M. A rolling machine for working a tubular or cup-shaped workpiece 16, Fig. 2, comprises a rotatable mandrel 13 for supporting the workpiece, and a number of alternatively operable rollers 15 carried in a movable support 14. The rollers are arranged in sets, with only one set acting on the workpiece at any time, and the rollers of each set having different profiles. Each set may consist of three rollers spaced around the workpiece, Fig. 2, with the rollers of one set radially adjusted to roll the workpiece. Four sets may be arranged axially of the mandrel, or five sets may be arranged on turntables, Fig. 3. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown), two turntables which each carry three rollers are arranged to pivot in a common plane passing through the workpiece axis. (For Figures see next page.)
