A combine harvester is fitted with side tanks 2, 3 which can be enlarged by the outward movement of at least one side wall to increase their capacity. The hinged outer side walls 4, 5 of the side tanks 2, 3 can pivot by means of hydraulic cylinders or similar devices, the end walls 8, 9 being made of resilient material or telescopic segments so that the movement of the side walls 4, 5 is not unduly hindered. Each pair of end walls 8, 9 is provided with an inspection glass 7. In another embodiment, the outer wall of each side tank 2, 3 is made up of two segments adapted to swing towards each other. In further embodiments, the outer wall can be moved out with a sliding movement, or the side walls could be made of expansible material.
