Abstract
1,251,535. Oxychlorination catalysts. SHOWA DENKO K.K. 23 Dec., 1968 [27 Dec., 1967], No. 61193/68. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C2] Oxychlorination catalysts for the conversion of propylene or isobutylene, respectively, to allyl or methallyl chloride comprise a carrier on which is supported either (i) (a) Te and/or a Te compound, and (b) at least one compound of a metal which is Ni, Pb, Cu, Ag, Pd or Pt, or (ii) a salt of one of the above metals with a Te oxyacid. The catalytic activity is stated to arise from combination of the tellurium with chlorine during the reaction. The supported catalyst is preferably calcined before use.
