Novel compounds of the formula (wherein R is tert.-butyl and R<SP>4</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl) are prepared by cyclization, e.g. by refluxing with sodium acetate and acetic anhydride under N 2 , of novel compounds of the formula which in turn are prepared by hydrolysis of the corresponding t.-butyl esters, themselves prepared from the free hydroxy-acids and isobutylene.
