Abstract

1,250,556. Facsimile apparatus. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 23 May, 1969, No. 7370/71. Divided out of 1,250,555. Heading H4F. [Also in Division G2] In a plane scanning system a recording surface is moved past a linear array of optical fibres the ends of which are positioned so that they slightly displace the recording surface. This ensures contact between the fibres and the recording surface so that dispersion of light is reduced producing a sharply focused image. As shown, Fig. 2, a camera back 13 containing a film 18 on a spring loaded carrier 19 is mounted on a base member 17 which is driven across a surface 15 by a motor in the direction indicated by arrow e. A linear array of optical fibres 14 protrude from the surface 15 with their ends 16 at such a height that they contact film 18 and displace it upwards a distance of about 0À3 to 0À5 mm. The camera back may be of the Polaroid Camera (Registered Trade Mark) type incorporating the film developing system. The device forms part of a facsimile receiver, of the kind described in Specification 1,250,555, in which light from a lamp energized by a received line sequential signal is passed through cranked optical fibre to a circular to linear converter comprising a plurality of optical fibres one set of the ends of which are arranged in a circle to receive the light from the cranked fibre and the other set of ends of which constitute the linear array 14.
