1,249,965. Plugging mine passages. HALLIBURTON CO. 25 June, 1970, No. 30860/70. Heading E1F. A method of plugging mine passages and the like having water emanating therefrom involves depositing in the passage to be-plugged to form an initially water permeable plug therein a quantity of particulated solid material of a type which will react with the water as it passes through the plug to form an insoluble participate that will progressively convert the plug into a water impermeable mass. When the water is acidic the material is preferably such, e.g. limestone or dolomite, as will neutralise the acidity of .the water whilst being converted . to an insoluble. precipitate.
