Abstract

1,249,603. Perinone pigments. E. I. DU FONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 20 Jan., 1970 [31 Jan., 1969], No. 2718/70. Headings C4P and C4S. Novel diperinone compounds of formula wherein (a) R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are or (b) R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each either or (c) R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are or (d) R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are and wherein any of the ring atoms may carry an alkyl or alkoxy substituent containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms or a halogen atom substituent, are prepared by condensing 3-hydroxy-4-bromonaphthalic anhydride with an ortho- or peridiamine, and then self-condensing the hydroxybromoperinone product. The diperinone products may be used as luminescent materials or as red-shade yellow pigments.
