Abstract

1, 249, 403. Electro-chemical analysis; gas analysis. BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc. Oct. 9, 1969 [Nov. 8, 1968], No. 49555/69. Headings G1B, G1N. The quantity of e. g. SO2 or O3 in a gas stream with interferents such as H2S, NO2 or mercaptans or halogens or ammonia is determined by making a measurement before and after the component has been selectively scrubbed from the stream and recording the difference. A suitable electro-chemical measuring cell of the kind described in Specification 1, 098, 653 may be used Fig. 2 (not shown), alternatively known spectro-photometric methods may be employed. OZONE SCRUBBER for ozone measurements may be a heated silver catalyst or P. T. F. E. granules coated with alkylthio mercury chloride, dialkylthio mercury, alkylthio lead chloride, or dialkylthio lead. A method of preparing the granules is described.
