Abstract
1,248,766. N - substituted - α - hydroxy ,- #- naphthamides. SCOTT GRAPHICS Inc. 12 Sept., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 43525/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division G2] The Specification discloses α - hydroxy - #- naphthamides having the general formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl group containing from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, a hydroxyalkyl group containing 2-6 carbon atoms, a heterocyclicsubstituted alkyl group containing from 2 to 3 carbon atoms in the alkyl chain and up to 7 atoms in the heterocyclic substituent, or an unsubstituted aralkyl group containing from 7 to 10 carbon atoms; R<SP>2</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a group represented by R<SP>1</SP>; and the group represented by-N R<SP>3</SP> is a saturated, nitrogencontaining heterocyclic ring containing up to 7 atoms in the said ring. The following compounds are prepared in the examples: N- morpholinopropyl - 1 - hydroxy - 2 - naphthoic acid amide; N-butyl- 1 -hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid amide; N-#-hydroxyethyl-1-hydroxy-2- naphthoic acid amide; N-benzyl-1-hydroxy-2- naphthoic acid amide; N-methyl-N-#-hydroxyethyl.1.hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid amide; 1- hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, morpholide; and 1- hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid-N-methyl piperazide.
