Abstract

1,248,239. Transistor oscillator circuits; frequency shift modulators. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 19 Dec., 1968 [27 Dec., 1967], No. 60323/68. Headings H3T and H4P. A frequency shift modulator includes an oscillator comprising transistors Q1, Q2 and two long-tail pairs Q3, Q4 and Q5, Q6. Binary data, whose voltage levels lie on either side of voltage E2, switches on one or other pair alternately, dependent on the bit level so that a. current i2 from transformer windings L2 or L3 is added to the collector current of Q1. The current from L2 is 180 degrees with that from L3, and is 90 degrees with the current il circulating in the oscillator feed-back loop. Consequently the oscillator generates alternately shift frequencies which are above and below the frequency of the oscillator when freerunning.
