1,247,601. Continuous heat treatment or drying kilns. L. ANDERSON. 21 April, 1969, No. 20216/69. Headings F4B and F4G. A kiln for the continuous heat treatment of articles comprises a base 10, an annular enclosure 11 on the base, exit and entrance facilities at 22 and 21 in the enclosure walls, an annular product-carrying component 37 movable circumferentially round the enclosure and means for moving it and a plurality of curing zones each comprising a floor, inner and outer wall and a roof, the floor of at least one zone being formed as a water pan. As shown, for curing concrete products, the kiln is divided into zones 26, 27 and 28 defined by air curtains or automatic doors 30, 31, 32 and 33, pre-set zone 26 being maintained at, e.g. about 70‹ F., lowtemperature zone 27 at, e.g. about 160‹ F. and high-temperature zone 28 at, e.g. about 360‹ F. Zone 27 has transverse dams on its floor to provide the water pan. The articles may be formed in the roofed central area. Component 37 comprises a framework providing ledges for supporting the articles and may move on wheels round a track on the floor of the annular enclosure, or its base may be a track whereby it rolls on a plurality of wheels round the enclosure (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) a power source 62 drives a gear (60) which engages a tooth rack (59) (Fig. 3, not shown) fixed to the productcarrying component.
