Abstract

1,247,031. Slot closers. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 31 Dec. 1968 [26 Jan., 1968], No. 4187/68. Heading A1D. A seed drill has a slot opener 14, a seed foot located between angled coulters 15 and a slot closer comprising a rotatable disc 24 which is radially corrugated with each corrugation lying on a line from the rim to the centre of the disc. A stop 25 controls the angular movement of rods 22 such that disc 24 is clear of the ground when the slot opener 14 is lifted clear of the ground. Ram 17, bell crank lever 18 and spring loaded rods 16 control positioning of bars 13. The distance between corresponding points on successive corrugations at the rim of the disc is from one to five times the width or amplitude of the corrugations.
