Abstract

1,246,044. Amines. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 13 March, 1969 [18 March, 1968], No. 13313/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division H1] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where Ar 1 and Ar 2 are aryl or substituted aryl radicals, Ar 3 is an arylene or substituted arylene radical, n is 2-12 and X is an anion. The compounds are prepared by reacting a stoichiometric excess of a carbonyl halide with a triarylamine of the formula at between 20‹ and 250‹ C. and at a pressure greater than atmospheric. The halide produced may be converted to the carbinol base and then treated with an organic acid to produce compounds wherein X is an organic acid anion.
