Abstract

A drilling fluid comprises an aqueous composition of flaxseed gum, ground asphalt, ground asbestos, a preservative; oil, water soluble salt and either the reaction product of 3-6 moles of ethylene oxide with one mole of C 8-12 alkyl phenol or the reaction product of 8-15 percent by weight of ethylene oxide and 85-92 percent by weight of polypropylene glycol of MW 1700 to 3500. 1,244,781. [Also in Divisions G3 and H1] The concrete laying machine of specification 1,156,331 has the sub-frame, which carries the tamper and smoothing plate, controlled by a sensing device adapted to follow a datum and mounted on a separate carrier suspended from the machine frame and coupled to the sub-frame for displacement in unision therewith. The separate carrier is a platform 77 on which the sensing devices 75, 76 are mounted and which is connected by links 78 and crank arms 79 to "torque tubes" 80 mounted in bearings 82 on the chassis 70. The respective ends of the sub-frame 73 are connected by links 83 and crank arms 84 with the tubes 80. The sensing devices may be switches of the kind described in Specification 1,243,010 or have reed contact units on the ends of arms of a balanced structure (Fig. 2, not shown).
