Abstract

124,475. Dreyfus, S. Jan. 19, 1916. Mineral oils, purifying.-Mineral oils, such as Borneo spirits, containing aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene or toluene, are fractionated and the fractions nitrated; the resulting mixtures of parffins and nitro compounds are separated by treatment with concentrated sulphuric or nitric acid which dissolve the nitro compounds, and then decanting off the undissolved paraffins.
