Abstract
1,243,949. Phosphorus-containing halophenoxy s-triazine derivatives. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 20 Feb., 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 58540/70. Divided out of 1,229,012. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein each X is halogen, e.g. C1, n and m are integers from 1 to 5, and R is an optionally halogenated C 1 -C 5 alkyl radical or an alkali metal or ammonium group. They may be obtained by reacting a phosphite triester P(OR) 3 with a 2-halogenated -4,6-bis-halophenoxy-s-triazine at 50‹ to 250‹ C. in an organic solvent, or in the melt. Hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons and simple and cyclic ethers are suitable solvents. The products may be hydrolysed with alkali metal hydroxides or ammonium hydroxide to form the corresponding salts. The products are useful as hydrophobants, separating agents and sizing agents for glass cloths, as textile auxiliaries, as surface-finishing agents, and as lacquer additives, and have fire-retarding, fungicidal, phytotoxic, bactericidal and insecticidal properties.
