1,243,340. Battery plate grid. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 18 Nov., 1968, No. 60460/70. Divided out of 1,243,339. Heading H1B. A battery plate grid 11 for receiving active material comprises a synthetic resin mesh network 13 which has a pitted surface and a substantially non-porous inner region, a conductive battery plate lug 16 including an integral extension 17 of lead which is embedded in the resin, and a conductive coating, e.g. of lead or a lead alloy on the mesh network, the coating being electrically connected to the lug and entering the indentations in the pitted surface of the resin mesh. The grid may be pasted with a layer of active material which enters the indentations of the pitted surface of the conductive coating. The description is identical with that of the parent Application including the method of preparing the grid, but the claims are directed to the grid per se.
