Abstract

1,242,950. Dental chairs. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. 2 July, 1970 [2 July, 1969], No. 33483/69. Heading B8J. [Also in Division F2] A linkage particularly to provide vertical movement for a dental treatment support comprises a base 10 and spaced pivots 11, 12 to which a link 13 and strut 14 are respectively pivoted. An arm 15 is pivoted to the other end of the link 13 and a further arm 17 is pivoted at an intermediate point to the strut 14 the two arms being pivotally joined to a further link 18. The strut 14 is pivotally connected to an intermediate point on the arm 15. Drive means are connected between pivots 20, 22 and comprise a worm and nut drive 25, 26 driven by a motor 23 through a toothed belt 24 as shown or may comprise an hydraulic ram or manually operated mechanical means. The arrangement is such that the further link 18 moves perpendicularly to the base 10 and at a constant inclination to it. The dental treatment support may be in two pivoted parts or the linkage may be used for other applications such as camera trolleys.
