Abstract
1,241,931. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI S.p.A. 16 May, 1969 [17 May, 1968], No. 24956/69. Heading B7C. A radial cord carcass pneumatic tyre bead which includes a rubber filler 3 sited above bead core 2, has a reinforcement element 4 disposed axially outwardly of the turn-up of ply 1 and which extends radially from a point approximately the same distance from the rotational axis of the tyre as the radially innermost part of the bead core 2 to a point in the associated sidewall which is at a height of <SP>2</SP>/ 5 h to 1/6h where h is the maximum height of the tyre, the element 4 is constituted by a rigid annular element of a moulded thermoplastic material, such as a polyamide resin, having an elastic modulus of at least 500 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> and a melting point greater than 170‹ C. The element 4 has a thickness which decreases radially of the tyre from a maximum of 2.5 mm. Preferably the material of the element has an elastic modulus in the range 10,000 to 30,000 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>
