Abstract
1,241,373. Battery cages. SUMMIT AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT Ltd. 20 April, 1970 [19 April, 1969; 19 July, 1969], Nos. 20089/69 and 36445/69. Heading A1M. A battery laying shed comprises a roof structure, a plurality of support members 6 inclined to form one or more inverted shaped structures extending transversely across the shed in longitudinally separated rows to support stacks of battery cages 8 in echelon, and a ground engaging structure including member 1 and additional members 10, such that the support members 6 support the roof structure on the ground engaging structure. A rigid link member 5 extends across the ground engaging members 1 and 10 to support the support members 6 which are secured at their upper ends to vertical connection member 7 which extend to support the roof structure. The roof structure comprises horizontal prefabricated sections 2 and inclined outer surfaces 3 spaced by struts 4 or as in an alternative embodiment the roof structure, including the inclined surfaces, may be formed in prefabricated sections. At the lower apices formed by the support members 6 floor walls 9 are provided. The additional ground engaging members 10 may be omitted to allow convenient mechanical collection of droppings from the cages.
