Abstract

1,240,759. Vice jaws. B. H. DEWICK, and J. W. RHODES, [trading as JAB MARKETING SERVICES]. 16 June, 1969 [24 April, 1969], No. 20909/69. Heading B3B. An auxiliary vice jaw comprises a jaw plate 1 for location against the fixed or movable jaws of a vice and a pair of like resiliently deformable portions 6 located one at each end of said plate and extending away from said plate and arranged parallel to one another so that when the jaw plate 1 is placed against a jaw of a vice of suitable dimensions, the portions 6 may be deformed away from one another so as to grip the vice jaw. Top and bottom flanges 9 may also be provided. The jaw may be made from moulded nylon. The portions 6 include projections 8 which may engage depressions in the vice bodies. Grooves may be provided for mounting removable arms at different spacing to enable the jaw to be used on vices of different sizes. The resilient portions may be provided by embedding a leaf or wire spring in the jaw. Magnets or magnetic tape may be disposed in or on the jaw to provide additional grip.
