Abstract

1,240,288. Egg toppers. A. G. SMITH. 3 Oct., 1969 [3 Oct., 1968], No. 46997/68. Heading A4R. An egg topper comprises a flat annular member 7 riveted, at 5, to a handle 3 through a spacer 12 and a blade 9 with a finger-operable knob 13, the blade 9 being slidably mounted in a carriage 11 for movement radially of the annular member 7 and the carriage 11 having lugs 11a engaged around the member 7 so that the carriage 11 is slidable circumferentially around the annular member 7. In use, the blade 9 is first moved inwardly to pierce an egg over which the member 7 is is placed and the carriage 11 and blade 9 are moved around the member 7 to cut the shell. The handle 3 carries a U-shaped member 12 fitted with rubber sleeves 21 which resiliently engage the egg to prevent its rotation. The blade 9 is removable.
