Rollers 14 are resiliently deformable by the weight of the seat occupant to provide clearance between the channel-shaped seat guides 11, 12. In the event of a collision, in which the load on the seat is greatly increased, the rollers are deformable to a reduced extent, to bring the shoulders 19 into engagement with flanges 18, thus preventing the seat from being torn from the guides. A nylon roller 14 Fig.3 (not shown) is formed with a deflectable flared rim (26) and a slightly compressible solid centre (25).
