Abstract

1,239,733. Flash cubes. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. Jan.10, 1969 [Jan. 24, 1968], No.1653/69. Heading G2A. A flash-cube has a plurality of uncoloured lamps 16 each provided with a reflector 14. A cube shaped cover 12 of transparent material, e.g. polystyrene, has at least coloured side faces so that the artificial light emitted by the lamps is converted to light having the spectral characteristics of daylight. The colour is obtained by admixing quantities of blue, red and violet organic dyes with the polystyrene, the resultant polystyrene resin being blue-tinted. This is then used to form the cover 12 by injection moulding. The lamps are filled with shredded aluminium or zirconium foil, and can be coated with cellulose acetate.
