Abstract

1,239,505. Production of mono-, di- and triethylamine. LEUNA-WERKE WALTER ULBRICHT VEB. 11 March, 1969, No. 12729/69. Heading C2C. Mono-, di- and tri-ethylamines are produced by the hydrogenation of CH 3 CN at a pressure of 5-230 atmospheres using a fixed catalyst, the hydrogen and products being circulated, and the separation of the product is performed at - 33‹ to + 50‹ C. The pressure is preferably 35- 45 atmospheres, advantageously 40 atmospheres whereat monoethylamine is the major component at a separator temperature of - 30‹ C., di-ethylamine at 0‹ C. and triethylamine at +30‹ C.
