Abstract

1,238,887. Photographic processing apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Oct. 16, 1968 [Oct. 20, 1967], No.49023/68. Heading G2A. Photographic film processing apparatus is provided with means for transporting film 22 through developing, fixing, washing and drying chambers thereof; with a film sensing device for detecting the presence of film in the apparatus; and with waterflow regulating means responsive to the film sensing device for supplying maximum waterflow to the washing chamber, the regulating means reducing or cutting off the waterflow a predetermined time interval after the film sensing device ceases to detect the presence of film. The film is fed into the apparatus over a table 20 having a recessed chamber 24 with apertures 26 in its top wall. As the film covers these apertures 26, the action of a suction pump 30 causes a pressure actuated switch 34 to change over to its maximum waterflow position, thereby de-energizing a time delay relay mechanism 36. This supplies power to a solenoid 40, thereby moving a valve 42 to its maximum waterflow position. When the film 22 uncovers the holes 26, the negative pressure is reduced causing the switch 34 to return to its reduced waterflow position, resupplying power to the timer 36. However the solenoid 40 is not de-energized until a capacitor associated with the timer charges up to a sufficient voltage, and the time taken for this charging is controlled by a variable time delay resistor 48 coupled to a potentiometer 50 of a film drive motor control 52. The potentiometer 50 controls the speed of film transport through the apparatus, thus the valve 42 is not moved to its reduced flow position until the film has completed its passage through the wash chamber.
