[Also in Division G2] Merocyanine dyes have the formula wherein Z completes a thiazoline, oxazoline or pyrroline nucleus, R is alkyl or substituted alkyl e.g. carboxymethyl, L 1 and L 2 are each methine or alkyl or aryl substituted methine e.g. methyl substituted methine, R 1 and R 2 are each aryl e.g. phenyl or p-tolyl and n is 0, 1 or 2.
