The method of preparing a tobacco extract and the subsequent application of a concentrated solution of the extract to paper or a reconstituted tobacco sheet of the parent Specification is extended to the application of the concentrated solution directly to tobacco leaf (which term includes separated stem or lamina; and shredded, granulated or otherwise divided leaf). A suitable apparatus for applying the extract is illustrated diagrammatically.
